Taking photos of children with complex learning difficulties or disabilities can be challenging. Photographers without much experience in this field will struggle. Anthony, our photographer, has a 10 year old son called George. He has severe learning difficulties, is almost entirely non-verbal and autistic. George can be tricky to photograph, he does not pose and rarely stops moving so we have a huge amount of experience taking photographs of children with complex needs.
We come to you and we take our time and get to know our new client. We are extremely patient and flexible to make sure we can provide you with some amazing photographs of your child. You can reschedule at the last minute if it’s a “one of those days” and we’ll be happy to rebook you for another time.
Bookings are usually up to 2 hours at a location of your choosing (within a reasonable area of our business) but we are super flexible to make sure we get the photos you are looking for. Upon completion we will provide professionally edited photos within 10 days and prints within 20 days. The number of photos will depend on the shoot but is usually between 5 and 10.

Common problems and our solutions:
My child doesn’t hold still, all photos are just blurry.
It’s important to remember that if photographers can photograph Formula 1 cars at 200mph then we can capture photos of your child. You just need the right equipment and a decent photographer.
My child won’t pose.
Absolutely fine, let’s be honest posing can look rather forced anyway. We’ll be with you for a few hours, playing and having fun. We’ll get some wonderful shots of your child enjoying themselves rather than forcing a smile in an awkward pose.
My child doesn’t like flashing lights.
Professional photographers use flashing lights to get good photos. You see them using the large flashes on top of their cameras or they have flashes with large umbrellas or in soft boxes (a box on a stand). However this is very common problem on these type of shoots so we do not use them. Instead we have a variety of ‘always on’ options from powerful bulbs in soft boxes to a ring light (popular on fashion shoots but actually really useful).
My child won’t like extra lights or equipment around them.
So photographers use light for a number of reasons; it cancels out shadows and evens skin tones. It also allows us to shoot ‘fast’ capturing moments that would be blurry without the extra light. That said if we can’t use additional lighting, can’t use a flash on the camera itself (if they also don’t like flashes) and can’t go outside and use the sun, then we still have some options. For example we actually carry a 250W ceiling light bulb which, at a push, provides enough light and can be easily swapped out for your existing light bulb.
We do not charge for cancellations, we understand these things do happen. Please give us as much notice as possible though as we would like to be able to book someone else in for your slot. Just give us a call on 01202 980200 to cancel and rebook your session.
